Plumbing emergencies can happen any time during the day or night. When they arise, the only thing you can think about is getting it fixed as soon as possible. After you have called in the plumber Pensacola to help you with your plumbing emergency, there are some things you can do to minimize damage, especially if you are dealing with a broken or leaking pipe.
Turn Off the Water
The first thing you need to do to minimize water damage in your home is to turn off the water that is feeding the leaking or broken pipe. If you are unsure of where the water supply valve is for that particular sink, then you can always turn the main water valve off.
Once that has been done, you’ll then need to turn on the sink that is closest to where the issue is occurring. This will drain the rest of the water and hopefully reduce some of the pressure in the pipe.
Remove Belongings
Save anything that can be dried and used again, but dispose of anything that is damaged beyond repair. This will also clear the area, giving the plumber Pensacola access to the pipes.
Clean Up the Water
Depending on how much water is in the area, you may be able to use towels for this step in the process. If there are large puddles, you might need a wet/dry vacuum to help with the cleanup.
